|Standard Motion Detector||Pet-Immune Motion Detector|
Here are the recommended troubleshooting steps to take if a Motion Detector for your GSM alarm system is no longer working successfully.
- Check The Power Switch
- Check The Status Of The Lights
- Check The Motion Detector's Placement
- Reprogram The Motion Detector
Check The Power Switch
The motion detectors each have individual power switches. Check to make sure that the power switch was not accidentally turned off.
Check The Status Of The Lights
- Internal Yellow Light
If the internal yellow light is lit up, this indicates that the battery is low and needs to be replaced. The Motion Detectors use standard 9V batteries.
- External Red LED Light
The external red LED light will flash once whenever motion is detected. Note that the motion detectors may take up to 30 seconds to detect motion. If the light does not come on, this indicates that the battery might be dead and needs replacing.
If you have a Pet-Immune Motion Detector, and the external red LED light is flashing multiple times, press the black "Coding" button on the detector once to resolve the issue.
Check The Motion Detector's Placement
Make sure that you place the detector in a place where it can detect motion in the area you're interested in monitoring. The motion detectors have a range of 20 feet, in an arc of 120 degrees.
The Pet-Immune Motion Detectors are programmed to ignore small movements from small objects. The general guideline is that the sensor should ignore any household pets that are about 50 pounds or less.
The Standard Motion Detector will detect movements even from small pets and animals.
Reprogram The Motion Detector
If the Motion Detector is able to be programmed to the panel successfully, but is not detecting motion, this can also indicate that the battery is getting low. We recommend replacing the battery in that case.
